On Sunday 15 March 2020, President Ramaphosa addressed the nation and declared a National State of Disaster in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We have never before been faced with challenges as those created by the spread of the virus. The South African Government has been decisive in its approach to contain the spread of the virus and as a business we are busy implementing contingency plans and affirm our commitment to taking every precaution to ensure a safe environment for our employees, Members and other business stakeholders.
In line with our values and purpose as a company we have taken the decision that we need to remain available to our Members in our Branches and through our Call Centres.
We will however continue to monitor the situation and for the most part we will take our lead from the South African Government and international specialists.
I would like to encourage you to practice basic hygiene protocols to help fight the spread of the virus.
- Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
- Maintain at least 1 metre distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Cover your mouth and nose with the bent of your elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze & dispose of the used tissue immediately.
Finally, if you have a scheduled appointment and have a sore throat, runny nose, cough, fever or are having difficulty breathing we would request that you reschedule your appointment or contact us via our LegalLine for a telephonic appointment. The LegalWise APP has been updated. Download it and enjoy the new self-service features - add, delete or change your beneficiary and insured person’s details, view SMSs and emails sent to you by LegalWise or submit a compliment or a complaint.
We thank you for your continued support. I would like to wish you and your families well over the coming weeks. Stay healthy and let’s flatten the curve together.
