December 2, 2020

Dear Member,

This year has been an extraordinary year-which has challenged the resilience of companies and individuals alike in many different ways throughout the world. The disruption caused by COVID-19 to businesses and the loss of revenue will be felt for a long time to come. But, despite this curve ball, we continue to ensure that you are able to enforce and defend your rights whoever the transgressor.

We acknowledge the hardships brought about by the pandemic, and in our concerted effort to be part of our Members financial solutions, the annual premium and cover increases have been waived up until 30 June 2021.

As our country observes 16 Days of Activism, we discuss the issue of Gender Based Violence, what remedies are available to victims as well as the new amendment bills announced to close loopholes and curb the exploitation of the legal system by perpetrators of GBV.

The COVID-19 pandemic not only disrupted business, it also affected the school calendar in South Africa. The disruption created a great deal of confusion regarding the payment or non-payment of schools fees. Read more about suspensions of learners due to non-payment of fees and what the Constitution provides. As we look forward to some much needed down time during the December holidays, we urge you to be vigilant on the roads. Ensure that you abide by the rules and remember that, it is a criminal offense not to have your driver's licence with you if you are the driver. We remind you that you can contact us during office hours via our National Switchboard telephone number 010 271 2255, send us a message to our WhatsApp number 071 640 0337 or, if you need legal assistance, you can call our 24-hour LegalLine on 086 142 7777.
