Bursaries and mentorship

We have been Building a Legacy since 2006

We could tell you that we have been providing support to students to obtain an undergraduate degree since 2006. We could tell you that since then, we have supported over 150 students with bursaries, mentorship and psycho-social support. We could tell you that following graduation, we have provided employment for our bursary holders, many of whom have become a permanent part of our LegalWise family. But it would mean so much more to hear it from them directly.

Bursary Holders

“I am Risuna Baloyi, a second year LLB student from the University of Pretoria. LegalWise doesn't just offer financial assistance, it offers mentorship, experience in the workplace as well as job security which I think are pivotal to young, law students determined to make their way in the  legal field. I am very excited to grow with a Company that I share the same values with. Thank  you LegalWise and happy 40th Anniversary!”

“I am Liyema Ngwentle from the University of Witwatersrand, a third year student, studying towards a BA Law degree. This bursary meant that I could continue with my studies and reach my career goals. In as much as law is a noble profession, the aim and mandate for legal practitioners is to ensure that the rule of law is upheld to create a civilised society. Thank you LegalWise and happy 40th Anniversary!”

“I am Sinqobile Zungu a third year student at the University of KwaZulu Natal studying towards an LLB degree. Receiving the bursary alleviated the financial burden on myself and my parents and enabled me to focus entirely on my studies. Thank you LegalWise.”

Beyond Mentorship

“I am Musa Mhlomi and I joined the programme in early 2024. Reflecting on being a mentee on this programme fills me with deep nostalgia. From the introductory meeting that we had with the CEO and other individuals participating in the programme, I felt well-received by LegalWise. The most valuable lesson I acquired from the mentorship programme is that in every place that you're in, you must make meaningful connections, and have fun while doing it and enjoy the experience. I am truly indebted to the #BeyondMentorship programme.”

“My name is Nhlamulo Mathevula. As a final-year law student, I had an opportunity to be one of the mentees of the 2024 #BeyondMentorship programme. I got to learn more about how to properly position and prepare myself to stand out to potential employers. As I speak today, I am now more confident and ready to take on the challenges and opportunities that will come after completing my degree in November. All thanks to the #BeyondMentorship programme.”

“My name is Boitumelo Themba. I joined the programme at the beginning of 2024. The programme has had a significant impact on my career and personal journey as it has provided me with career guidance and advice. I have developed interpersonal skills, improved in communication and gained more confidence. The programme has provided me with emotional support and inspiration and has allowed me to progress significantly in my legal career. A valuable lesson I have learnt from the programme is that every circumstance presents an opportunity for continuous improvement.”

As an organisation that believes in achieving excellence through people, we aim to provide more opportunities for students to reach their full potential.

In our next edition, we will launch the next round of the #BeyondMentorship Programme as well as introduce our new Bursary Holders for the 2025 academic year.
