LETTER FROM THE CEO

Dear Member,

It is that time of the year when we all look forward to some deserved rest, quality time with family, and an opportunity to recharge and rejuvenate our bodies and minds.  I hope that as you reflect on the past year you can proudly acknowledge your achievements and that you have ticked off some of your intended goals for the year.

We are proud to announce the launch of our new Impact Litigation Unit. This Unit will champion matters of public interest that will achieve broad legal change to systemic social issues by getting laws, policies, and practices that cause harm or are discriminatory. If you have an issue that affects you and your greater community, send an email to impactlitigation@legalwise.co.za. Matters of public interest will be considered and evaluated, and select matters will be litigated.

Effective 1 January 2024 there are changes and updates to the LegalWise Membership Agreement. Amongst the changes is the introduction of the Legacy Accumulator Benefit. For further details and information read more on bit.ly/47PsEd6

Over the past year, we have successfully completed the refurbishments of our Pretoria, East London and  Welkom Branches. Our Mthatha, Cape Town and   Durban Branches will also be refurbished early in the  New Year.

In this edition of the WiseUp Newsletter, we discuss the AARTO Act, its national roll-out and the demerit points system, what to do if you are involved in a car accident as well as what happens at a Roadblock and whether or not police can search you, confiscate items or even impound your vehicle.
