As we conclude our 40th Anniversary celebrations, our commitment to providing affordable access to justice remains as strong as ever. 

To keep up with the increasing costs of providing legal expenses, our annual premium adjustment will take effect from 1 July 2025. This adjustment takes into account the rising costs of providing legal expenses insurance. We understand that any increase matters, and have worked hard to keep it as low as possible. 

Over the past few months, we have continued to invest in improving your overall experience. This includes the ongoing refurbishment of our Branches to create more welcoming and accessible spaces, enhancing our self-service options, as well as introducing a new benefit for our GoldPLUS and Platinum Members. This benefit, effective from 1 July 2025, offers assistance from our Legal Counsellors in matters relating to the administration of deceased estates valued at less than R250 000, commonly referred to as a Section 18(3) deceased estate. We understand how difficult and overwhelming this process can be, and we are proud to offer our Members added peace of mind and guidance during such sensitive times.

As we observe Labour Month, this edition of WiseUp focuses on key workplace topics that impact both employers and employees. We take a closer look at social media in the workplace, the grievance process - what it means, how it should be handled fairly and the steps employees can take when raising workplace concerns. We also discuss insights into an employer's rights and responsibilities, helping to ensure a balanced and respectful working environment for all. Given the growing awareness around emotional well-being, we explore the impact of mental health in the workplace and unpack the often-misunderstood concepts of sick leave and temporary incapacity, providing clarity on your rights and what to expect during times of illness.
