To keep up with the increasing costs of providing legal expenses insurance, our insurance cover benefits and premiums will increase from 1 July 2023. We have been mindful of the state of the South African economy and as such we’ve kept the increases to a minimum.

Over the past 12 months we’ve continued to invest in our services to our Members –

• We launched a new service for all LegalWise main Members offering tax advice and assistance for personal income tax matters.
• We’ve increased our tariffs to lawyers for civil, criminal and labour matters on our Gold and GoldPLUS Membership options.
• We’ve opened our new Service Centre in Empangeni, following the social unrest in July 2021 and have refurbished our Service Centre in Pretoria.

We’re now offering our Members even more!

From 1 July 2023, we will be launching a Municipal Service – a new benefit for all LegalWise Members offering assistance in dealing with their Municipality, such as;

• Property ownership – assistance with verifying ownership, the registration of property and lodging disputes on any debt from a previous owner.
• Billing issues – assistance with incorrect billing for rates, water or electricity, incorrect subsidies and rebates.
• Municipal valuations – assistance with interpreting property valuations and lodging disputes.
• Outstanding debt – assistance with negotiating payment arrangements.
• Subsidies and rebates – assistance with registering for rebates and subsidies, for example, prepaid electricity and for pensioners.
• Reconnections – assistance with the reconnection of water and electricity supply.

Plus we’ve used the launch of the new Municipal Service to include a new clause in Section 4 of the LegalWise Membership Agreement to better explain and remove any uncertainty about a current insured matter.

• 23. UNLAWFUL CONDUCT OR FAILURE by Local Government in respect of services and billing relating specifically to Your Place of Residence.

Finally, we've increased the Legal Expenses Accidental Death Benefit insurance cover by 56.8% on Gold and 50.8% on the GoldPLUS and Platinum Membership options to R18 000, R27 000 and R46 000 respectively.

Anniversary Premium Review –

All Memberships, which commenced on or after 1 July 2018, will have their annual premium and insurance cover benefits reviewed on the anniversary of their Membership. Memberships that were in-force on 30 June 2018 will have an anniversary date of 1 July.
