LETTER FROM THE CEO

Dear Member,

As we reflect on our journey and look ahead to the future, I'm reminded of the power of staying informed, empowered, and united in purpose. August is Women's Month in South Africa and a time to honour the achievements of women past and present. We commemorate National Women's Day on 9 August, a historic day that marks the 1956 march of over 20,000 women to the Union Buildings in protest against unjust pass laws. This powerful legacy continues to inspire our journey toward gender equality, dignity, and empowerment.

We believe that access to justice should not be a privilege but a right, and this belief fuels everything we do. Whether it's through our legal services, Member support, or community initiatives, our mission remains clear.

In this edition of the WiseUp Newsletter, we highlight key developments and stories that showcase the impact we are making together. We congratulate Guardians of Hope Place of Safety and Cape Town Association for the Physically Disabled, who became our community rewards program recipients of R40 000 each.

As we enter tax season, it is a timely opportunity to reflect on the importance of staying informed and responsible in both legal and tax matters. We are here to help you understand your rights, navigate your obligations, and make informed and empowered decisions. In addition to tax matters, it's also an ideal time to think about planning for the future. LegalWise is here to guide you through the important process of drafting or updating your Will, ensuring that your wishes are clearly documented and legally sound.

We also explore the right that every woman has to inherit from a deceased estate, regardless of cultural or traditional beliefs. We stand firmly in support of gender equality and the right of every person to report a sexual offence in a safe and respectful environment, to be believed and to be supported. Through education, legal support, and compassion, we remain committed to empowering our Members, especially women, to know their rights, speak out, and seek justice without fear or shame.

I encourage you to use every opportunity to WiseUp, to stay informed, ask questions, and stand up for your rights and those of others. We remain committed to building a society where fairness, dignity and justice are not ideals but realities.

Together, we are creating a future where legal empowerment is within everyone's reach.
